Tomorrow, When the war began: Can do # 4 

  1. RESEARCH- “Paradise of Hell” is an oxymoron. Find out why oxymorons are used for. Find five more examples of Oxymorons that are used in the ‘real world’ and give their meanings. Have a go at creating your own oxymorons.

  2. VOCABULARY - Find the meanings of the following words, write the meaning using your own words: Reverential, Distinguish, Violated, Scrounge, Astonished, Consolation, Gallantry, Stern, Begrudging, Crusade


Task one: 
  1. An oxymorons are often mention to as a conflict in terms. As with other devices, oxymorons are used for a variety of purposes. 
  2. Controlled chaos, kill with kindness, old news, small giant, original copy.                                              
  • Controlled chaos is a (uncountable) A state or situation that appears to be completely disorganised, but where some things are under control.
  • Kill with kindness  is to cause discomfort to someone by treating him or her in a way that is extremely kind or helpful Instead of returning the insult.
  • Old news is something or someone not new or exciting any more That band is old news  
  • Small giant is small giants' are privately-owned companies that have faced a moment of truth where they had to decide whether or not to grow, and decided against expanding if it meant compromising their mission
  • Original copy is refers to the content of the document. 

TASK TWO:  
  • Reverential- What is meant by a word, text, concept, or action.
  • Distinguish- Manage to discern (something barely perceptible).
