Dystopian Literature


  •  Define Dystopian: A person who imagine a state or society where is great.     
  •  Vocab find the meaning for the following - write 
Jovial - cheerful and affable.
Profusely - in a massive amount. 
Parahernalia - equipment needed for a particular activity.
Interminably- ? 
Petunalantly - person or their manner.

1. Describe the setting, using specific details from the story in your answer. 
2. Explain the feelings of most people in town toward the lottery. 
3. What evidence is there that the lottery has been going on for a long time?  
4. What is Old Man Warner’s attitude about those who would like to change  things?  
5. Explain how the lottery works. 
6. In what way is the title, “The Lottery”, misleading?  Why would the author  want to trick the reader by having a misleading title?

The townspeople have mixed reactions to the annual lottery. Some are genuinely excited about it the children who don't know any better think it's an opportunity to play and talk together
